Shame her boobs are DDs. This likely would have received a DD alot sooner. Sorry Ogono, but as others have mentioned.. you have allot of other pieces in your gallery more worthy than a boobshot. Oh wait sorry, boobshot + phone...
Wow! If art is to invoke and inspire an emotion or response this piece really got lots of that going for some of us. Doesn't really matter what opinion we all have about it... it did invoke an emotion and lots of us have a response It spoke loud and clear one way or another... Art means and is very different for each of us.
I think it's a very nice picture. And I'm a fan of nicely done artistic nudes. But I would have liked it more without the boobs out. Whether the photo be cropped to where they don't show, or if the model was wearing a shirt that cut horizontally across the top of her breasts. Sometimes a little mystery is a good thing. And I think her smile does that well, and the boobs are a distraction from what she's really smirking about.
Boobs = obviously sexual thoughts. Whereas if you didn't show them..the air of mystery would still be there.
It amazes me how much controversy immediately springs up over almost any photo like this that gets a DD. XD Haha. While I do agree that a lot of DD featurers have recently seemed to ignore the "artistic" aspect of artistic nudes, I think this is an excellent photo. The composition, contrast, and hint of color work very well together.
This is very interesting, is this like a tribute to Sin City (the movie/ comic series) or just inspired by it? Lol also not to come off as a perv but I like the light detail on the nips for some reason...
This reminds me of a woman who's maybe sexually obsessed and/or stalking a man or woman they believe they're in love with. I've been watching a lot of shows on stalking so that's what this made me feel like it was about. Calls in the middle of the night from a woman the person had a one night stand with because she believes it's more than what it was. It's really eerie. Love it.
Not a bad photo, I have nothing against artistic nudes but this one got nothing so extraordinary to be worthy of getting a daily deviation imo. Ironically, you have much better photos than this one in your gallery which would have deserved more a DD than this. But hey, sexiness did its work on DA admins :/
Now all I wonder is what will be the artist's reaction when she comes back and see that tons of feedback and argue on her photo. Plus it amuses me to see all the comments and debates for someone who doesn't seem very involved in Deviantart X)
IMHO - personal i like it. good comp, lighting and the picture has a message - this is the artist's work - it doesn't matter if you the humble viewer likes it or not - if the artist feels it is art - so be it. we can choose to disagree with out be an ass about it. simply put, if one doesn't like - don't look, don't add it to your fav, and keep looking elsewhere. no need to be rude about it. DD is also a matter of opinion - as the person who choose it as a DD
You just gave me the proof how subjective the matter is... Sure, the piece you praise deserves a DD for all I care, but I find it boring as hell. Like a lot of other DD stuff, it doesn't move me. I don't wanna stand up for this particular DD, but it's ALWAYS the nude category that receive shitty comments.
'An insult to proper artists?' What you're actually saying is, the things I don't like, are an insult to the things that I do like. In that case you live in a very insulting world my friend...
Art is such a subjective thing. That's what I find beautiful about art. There's something for every person's preferences. I know there are always going to be people who dislike certain works of art or don't appreciate them, myself included in many cases. But I think it's a sad world in which people have to tell artists their artwork doesn't deserve an award they didn't ask to receive. Very few people, if any, would negatively comment on this if it hadn't received the DD... And out of curiosity, how would one define a "proper" artist? I personally believe anyone daring enough to express themselves visually to the world deserves to be called an artist.
